Did I mention I hate snow? Fecking horrible stuff. This week has been pretty trying. Pico has needed injections every day and the snow has meant there really hasn't been anywhere to ride. Dino still has mud fever, and even if he didn't there's been no turnout due to the weather so he's been stuck in and is a bit sad about it. He's gone a bit quiet.
We managed to ride for a bit yesterday on a dreadfully waterlogged school and he is currently pretending to have forgotten almost everything we've taught him. Daft thing. It feels a bit like everything slipped over the past couple of weeks. It will come back pretty quickly I know, but I'm really sick of the weather and not having anywhere to ride.
In more positive news we tried a new bit with him yesterday and he really liked it. New this bit would have cost me £100 but fortunately eBay has a bunch second hand so I managed to get one for under £20. It's one of these for the curious and the diagram at the bottom of the page shows why it works! I'm really pleased with how much more relaxed he was in it so that's a big success. A smaller but important success is that he's mostly leaving his water bucket alone if it has water in it - less so if it's empty, but at least he's leaving himself some water to drink! Although the automatic feeder is working again now I'm pleased we've got over this before he moves boxes next weekend.
The horse next to Pico left yesterday and next weekend I'll be moving Dino so he can live next door to His Legginess. Quite excited to have them both next to each other and means we can stay in our nice bit of the yard which is quiet and out of the way of the busy riding school bits. And close to our shed. So that's another positive thing.
So basically everything is fine but I'm fed up with being cold and wet and rained on. And when it's not raining it's snowing. Can we please have a nice dry spring???
