Yesterday was horrible. Don't like Fridays, don't like arguing with my boss and don't like having to organise the Christmas party at the last minute because the person who's supposed to be organising it isn't coming. *sulk* And I'm ill, so generally in a bad mood.
Now, opinions on something please....
Imagine if you will that you have booked some annual leave. This is the sort of annual leave you get paid for, so I (as your employer) am paying you not to be work. You decide to do some work during this time. You don't absolutely have to, you decide that you want to because it's a particular sort of work. You then ask to be paid overtime for working whilst you're supposed to be on leave. I say no, 'cos I'm already paying you anyway. If you're working whilst you're supposed to be on leave then you're obviously not on leave so I'll give you back your holiday entitlement, but I'm not going to pay you overtime. Am I being reasonable? The person concerned believes that not only am I being unreasonable, but that most companies would pay the overtime! I'm having difficulty finding anyone who would be able to claim overtime in this situation so I'm curious if there's anyone lurking in livejournal land who might....I appreciate teachers are in a different situation. Since they can't take their holiday at any other point ('Oh yes, I'll have the first week of term off please! The kids can take care of themselves...') they should be paid if they have to work during their holidays. But only 'cos they would genuinely lose their holiday otherwise!
So, am I an unreasonable bitch....answers on a lj comment please...
