In Good Company
Saw this last weekend and haven't had time to write about it yet! The film is about Carter, a 26 year old middle manager in a global marketing corporation who is promoted to find himself in charge of Dan, who is 52 and highly experienced in his field. Carter is a bit of a wreck, his wife has left him and his only interest is his work, Dan on the other hand is a family man with a loving wife, 2 daughters and another baby on the way. This is a very slick production, with a well written and very honest script capturing the relationship between these two men, but it was a bit sickly sweet for me. I did enjoy the film, but I found it a bit cliched in places and very typically Hollywood. It was very funny though, so if you're in the mood for a lighthearted comedy then it's probably worth it.
Team America: World Police
Well, I've been putting this one off, but I finally got round to it last night and actually it was very funny. The film is shot with puppets, in a Thunderbirds style rendition of America saving the world and pissing people off. I think if I'd been in the right mood it would have been hilarious, but after a long day at work and cycling through the snow I don't think I got as much enjoyment out of it as I might have done. Basically it's a very well written piss-take on the nature of global politics today, with lots of famous faces putting in an appearance and a very witty soundtrack to keep it all together. It's well worth seeing if you like satirical humor, but being the mood for it will probably help.
